The artist
Art is more than what you see. It is what you feel.
From my studio in Spain, I create original, large-scale abstract artworks inspired by texture, light and the natural beauty of the Mediterranean.
Each work is built up layer by layer, with mixed media, structure and detail. Natural tones, contrasts and changing light give every painting its own character.

Materials & process
A surface you want to touch
My paintings are meant to be seen in real light. Up close, the materials tell their own story.
Texture and structure
Sand, paper and clay are built into the canvas, creating ridges, fissures and reliefs that change with every hour of the day.
Metallic accents
Pearl, silver and gold catch the light, so a painting can look entirely different at dawn and by lamplight.
Layering
Each work is built up slowly, layer upon layer of acrylic, pigment and mixed media, until the surface has depth and memory.
Three-dimensional detail
Some works rise several centimetres from the canvas, turning a painting into something closer to a relief.
Mediterranean light, natural stone, weathered walls and warm earth tones: the landscape around my studio in Alicante finds its way into every painting.
Commissions
An artwork created for your space.
Alongside my available collection, I accept a limited number of commissions for private homes, interior designers, architects and hospitality projects. Each one is created in my own signature style, with your space, light and colours in mind.

I want my work to add more than colour to an interior. I want it to create atmosphere: something you discover every time you look at it.
Monique Beverloo. Dutch by birth, Monique lives and works in Alicante. Her father always called her Mique, and the name has stayed with her work ever since.
